Volunteering

Our school recognizes the valuable contribution volunteers make in our school and welcomes parents to volunteer at our school. Our procedure for volunteers is to ensure and maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students.

The procedure defines a volunteer as someone who assists the school or works with students in curricular or extra-curricular activities. It does not include guest speakers, presenters, special visitors to the school or school council members in their position as council members.

Volunteers are required to have a criminal record check and sign a confidentiality agreement.  A form stating you require a check for volunteer purposes will be available from the school office. If your criminal record check is over three years old, we ask that it be renewed and resubmitted to our office. As well, we can only accept criminal record checks that have been issued within the last 30 days. No exceptions can be made to this rule.

All volunteers are required to sign in at the office when they arrive and sign out when they leave.

Please note that we have Workers Compensation Board of Alberta (WCB) coverage for volunteers. This coverage is purchased for individuals engaged in connection with a school organized project or activity.
